Legal document concerning Dunfermline craftsmen seeking answers as to their rights. They ask, for example: ‘To know if or not the 8 incorporate Crafts of this Burgh may trade… buy and sell freely all native Commoditys of the Kingdom, English as well as Scotch, and keep publick booths or shops within the Burgh for that end? And if or not they may freely sell all their own work or manufacture… without making the first offer thereof to the Dean of Gild or any others of the Gild Brethren?’ After 7 pages of questions and representations, the 8th page (in different handwriting) declares: ‘This is the memorial to which any opinion of the date February 9th 1741 refers. Hugh Murray Kynnynmound’
