This book refers to "Blind Harry's Wallace" an epic poem written around 1477, the earliest survivng source on the life of William Wallace. The book was "originally the substance of a paper read to the Aberdeen Philosophical Society, is offered with much diffidence to the public. It will offend all those who blindly believe that the Minstrel's story is veritable history ; while it may fail to satisfy those, who though willing to abandon some or many of Harry's tales, yet expect to find that in the main his poem is a trustworthy guide to the history of Wallace." John (Arnald) Blair and a religious house in Dunfermline is referred to on pg20.
