Kinghorn, David1954
Books, Manuscripts
This item contains sasine records for Dunfermline and district from 1572 -1580. These were recorded at that time by David Kinghorn [Kingorne] and later transcribed by John McLeod [MacLeod] at the request of Erskine Beveridge and lodged in Register House, Edinburgh. This item is Andrew Shearer’s copy of the transcription, with added index, produced around 1954. The entries are often brief, eg. ’18 June 1578. Sasine to Andrew Abircrumby and George Abircrumby his son and heir in the lands of Urquhart from Patrick Kynnynmont of Craighall.’ but contain a great deal of information on lands, people and custom (eg. ‘Sasine given… by delivery of earth and stone and a penny on the ground’).
