The Respondent was, on the 27th August 1747, imprisoned in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh, by Warrant of the Lord Justice-Clerk, proceeding on a Petition signed by Mr Stark, bearing, in genral, that he had defrauded the Revenue. Dispostion of the respondents whole effects resulted in absolute poverty and misery of his wife and family. A trial took place in 1748
