This item comprises a legal paper in a dispute over fishing rights at Kincardine and Longannet. The paper refers to earlier petitions and complaints on the matter, dating back to 1789, when William Muirhead had accused the defenders of 'trespasses against the laws made for the protection of the salmon-fishing in the Forth'. Much of the paper is a discussion of the terms of this Act of 1581 and subsequent Acts, and there is consideration given to the 'distinction between the Water and Frith [Firth] of Forth'.
