This is a hardbound copy of legal papers in the dispute between Sir George Wardlaw and Captain Peter Halket [Halkett] over inheritance issues: these concerned provisions to the three daughters of the marriage between Sir Henry Wardlaw (deceased, whose estate and title had passed to his son Henry and then in c1730 to his brother George) and Elizabeth Halket. There is discussion of Sir Henry selling off much of the lands of Pitravie/Pitrevie [Pitreavie] to the Earl of 'Roseberry': place names mentioned include Easter and Wester Pitcorthie, Pitbachly [Pitbauchlie], Bamoul/Balmool [Balmule] and Gatemilk/Gait-milk [near Kinglassie]. We are told Elizabeth Halket brought to the marriage a tocher (dowry) of L.10, 000 / 15,000 Merks.
