Answers for Robert Haldane, Esq, and others, to the Petition of Francis Holburn, Esq, Vice-Admiral of the Red, Provost of the Burgh of Inverkeithing, and others. Relating to Haldane's original complaint of 'grievous wrongs and illegal proceedings' which were alleged to have taken place at the burgh elections. He had claimed that the use of unlawful force and bribery led to the election of Admiral Holburn and his party. This document looks at the legal arguments presented by the Petition of Francis Holburn in relation to the case brought by Haldane.
