Ledger - one of a series - with handwritten entries giving names of post office staff, wage paid, date of birth, date of appointment, date of Civil Service Certificate, date of any promotions, and remarks (eg. 'transferred to Inverness', life insurance details, and military service notes - eg. for Hector Henry McLean (p22) that he was mentioned in despatches 18.5.17 and 16.3.19 and awarded Meritorious Service Medal 17.6.18.). There is also information on 'charwomen', medical officers and persons licensed to sell stamps. Information relates to Dunfermline and West Fife post offices and sub-offices. While most of the information relates to 1921, there are staff appointment dates dating back to the 19th century. This ledger is a useful resource for social and family history research, as well as research on World War One (WWI).
