This item is the Bill of Suspension which was part of a civil law dispute between Sir John Henderson of Fordel [Fordell] and brothers John and William Dove, concerning ' a few acres of land, called Pargillies, situated near the west gate, or entrance to Fordel', for which the Doves wanted payment for building a 'toft-stead'. 'inclosing [enclosing] the whole outline of said lands' etc. as they claimed Henderson had not honoured his commitment to do so as part of a land exchange.
