This item comprises legal papers in the dispute between Robert Murray and George Elder, who both claimed to be Deacon of the Weavers of Inverkeithing following election at Michaelmas 1760. The papers include excerpts from the Books of Incorporation of the Weavers of Inverkeithing between 1740 and 1760, which detail loans and 'Charity given' to any who voted at the election (eg. '29th November 1757, ordered to give George Greenlee three Pounds Scots, until such time as he shall recover his heath'); there was consideration given as to whether those on the Charity Roll should be eligible to vote.
