This item comprises legal papers in the dispute over the Inverkeithing burgh elections of September 1813 and 1814. There is controversy over whether some of those who voted were in fact eligible to do so. Papers include extracts of Council minutes. General Alexander Campbell of Monzie and Robert Black of Sunnybank both claim to be elected Provost in 1813. Campbell and Sir John Henderson of Fordel [Fordell] feature as antagonists in the papers. The final paper informs of General Campbell's 'resignation, then and for ever, of any right he might have to the office of Councillor of Inverkeithing'.
