This publication appears to be an extract from a larger volume bound separately. There is no title page so no publisher information is provided. The bound extract commences at page 577 and finishes on page 596 and ends mid-sentence. It appears to be from 'The New Statistical Account of Scotland' Volume IX for Fife and Kinross published in 1845 by William Blackwood and Sons of Edinburgh and London. The date of the compilation of the account for Balmerino is cited at the end of this section as '22d. February1838.' The date '1845' is embossed to the front of the cover which accords with the publication date of 'The New Statistical Account of Scotland'. Part of the Statistical Account for the 'Parish of Flisk' has been included at the end and one paragraph from the account for the Parish of Cults at the beginning. The Rev. John Thomson would have been tasked with writing the account for Balmerino as it was the duty of ministers of the various parishes to compile and submit information on the parish. The subjects covered range from 'Topography and Natural History' to 'Meteorology' and 'Hydrography'.
