Copy of the proof adduced for the complainers in the petition and complaint at the instance of Robert Haldane, Esq, present Provost... against Francis Holburn [Holburne] Esq, Vice-Admiral of the Red, pretended Provost... This law paper is one of a series regarding the case brought by Haldane, which complained of wrongs said to have been committed at the annual election of Provost, Magistrates and Councillors of the Burgh of Inverkeithing in September (Michaelmas) 1760. Haldane claimed that the use of unlawful force and bribery led to the election of Admiral Holburn and his party. This document contains many witness depositions as well as extracts of the Sett (constitution) of the burgh.
