The rules of Dunfermline Parliamentary Society are listed in 55 separate clauses. No. 1 of these states that "The Dunfermline Parliamentary Society is established for the purpose of discussing political and social topics, so far as may be practicable, according to the forms of the House of Commons." Members were to subscribe "not less than 4s. annually" (clause 4).
