This item comprises two pages from the book "Political Speeches in Scotland, November and December 1879" by Gladstone, the Liberal politician who held the office of Prime Minister between 1892 and 1894. The pages are from Chapter VII: "Monday, December 1, 1879. Speeches at Dunfermline, Perth, and Aberfeldy Railway Stations". Gladstone was greeted in Dunfermline by Provost Walls and 'about 9000 persons'. Following his speech, Mrs Gladstone was given damask table linen 'in the name of the manufactories of the town'.
