Walker & Hunt v. Bank of Scotland : 1809 / spine title

Court of Session (Scotland)1809
Books, Manuscripts
This item comprises legal papers in an attempt by the Treasurer of the Bank of Scotland to claim the sum of 'L.4854, 17s. 9d.' from the petitioners, Robert Walker and James Hunt. Along with the Bank's former agent in Dunfermline, Charles Hunt (uncle to James Hunt), the petitioners had signed a Bond (see Appendix) ensuring 'payment of any balance that might be found due on his accounts' up to L.10,000 Sterling. However, they claimed that after Charles Hunt was 'removed from agency', the Bank was negligent in not pursuing payment from Charles Hunt before his insolvency, and similarly with manufacturers Messrs James and George Spence who were declared bankrupt after Hunt had left office.
