Programme for the 105th Dunfermline Children's Gala, taking place from 10am on Saturday 28th June 2008 in Pittencrieff Park, following the main procession through down through the town, from East Port, down through Dunfermline's High Street, and arriving through the main 'Glen' gates, into Pittencrieff Park. In the main procession, there are 15 musical bands (mainly Pipe Bands, and Brass Bands) following the 19 primary schools taking part in this year's procession.This year's theme is the Wild West, and the 3000 children from Rosyth and Dunfermline primary schools are to be dressed up in Cowboy hats, waving their flags and balloons. There is an article in this programme on the Gala in the 1950's, which has 6 photo's from that era, written by Heather Anderson. Various entertainment has been laid on for the 105th Gala, including gymnastics, cheerleaders, Sheep dog display, 'Wild West shoot-out', horse vaulting display, and 'Chariots of Fire' display team. 3 Bands will provide live music throughout the day, and there will be bouncy-castles, charity stalls, face-painting, assault course, paint ball range, a children's fun fair , and Scots army recruiting teams.
