The story of an ancient craft in an ancient town

1928
Books, Manuscripts
A short history of the weaving industry and tradition in Dunfermline. The introduction of weaving in large part attributed to Queen Margaret. Coming from the Saxon Courts, which were alive with culture and art, to the undoubtedly rude Celtic Court of Malcolm Canmore, bringing with her the ancient art and craft of weaving. The Church was also a major factor in fostering the use of fine materials and fabrics, requiring rich designs for the glory of the Church and ministering to the faithful.
