Commemorative Robert Burns Damask

Dunfermline Museum
Books, Manuscripts
These two pages produced by the Dunfermline Museum give a very brief history of Robert Burns working life. Most of the information is about the damask cloth itself. The centre of the cloth depicts the Burns Monument at Alloway which was built in 1823. Two of the borders of the cloth show Tam o' Shanter on his horse Maggie being chased by the witches of Alloway, another shows Burns ploughing a field and the Wee, sleekit, cowrin, tim'rous beastie. The last side shows the Twa Dogs' Luarth and Caesar. The cloth was made at Erskine Beveridge's St. Leonards works. Mention is also made of a Burns Towel made at the same works.
