This issue of The Scottish Genealogist contains an article entitled "Newcastle Keelmen in the Eighteenth Century: The Scottish Connection", by Harry D.Watson (p.g. 403-414). From the seventeenth century onwards there were a high proportion of Scotsmen among the Keelmen and several lists have been preserved in the Tyne and Wear Archives providing information about 341 Keelman.
