Awful cruelty! : or, the life of Miss Agnes Rae

Rae, Agnes1830
Books, Manuscripts
Broadside, a single printed sheet made available for sale on the streets. These contained public information such as proclamations, news and often ballads. This example outlines the tragic life of Agnes Rae of Dunfermline, it is written in the form of a letter and a poem supposedly written by her dying hand, however it may be a fictional work created as a moral tale for young women. Agnes Rae was a young lady seduced by a gentleman and then left to beg in the streets. Her words describe her plight and the terrible end in poverty she was to meet.
