The print has the caption 'He has decided where Churches disagree' a quote from Jehu Junior, the pseudonym of Thomas Gibson Bowles, founder of Vanity Fair. The print is signed 'spy' the pseudonym of Leslie Matthew Ward a well known cartoonist for Vanity Fair at this time. on the reverse of the print is attached a clipping from Vanity Fair dated April 27, 1905 with the title Men of the Day. - No. CMLI The Earl of Elgin. This along with the quote would indicate that the caricature is of Victor Alexander Bruce, ninth Earl of Elgin.
