This item looks at the history of Dunfermline Abbey as ‘the common cemetery of Scottish kings’ after Iona, the previous burial place, suffered Viking attacks. In particular, the death and burial of Queen Margaret is examined. As well as her shrine, there is mention of her relics, St Margaret’s Stone and her Gospel-book. The book contains some small illustrations of the Abbey, St Margaret’s Chapel, her Stone and Gospel-book, and her Shrine.
