1995
Books, Manuscripts
This pack has been produced to accompany a theatre in education project 'At Home in World War II' but can be used independently as a resource for anyone interested in the home Front. 'At Home in World War II' was originally concieved by Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery in conjunction with Fife College, Theatre Arts Department as a means of bringing to life wartime objects from the Museum's collections. Performed by Theatre Playback, the production has toured both schools and reminiscence groups in Fife with great success. 'At Home in World War II' centres round a typical family living in Kirkcaldy in 1943, and draws on the real experiences of local people. the pack presents the script, much of the background research invloved in preparing the performances, photographs relating to the Home Front and reproductions of original documents. Although the pack does not cover every aspect of the Home Front, it does include a wide range of material and gives a broad picture of what life was like in Fife during the Second World War.
