This commemorative item celebrates the opening of the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Memorial (now known as the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum). It contains a wealth of information including names of contractors, architect, sculptor of the carvings, and the blacksmith responsible for the decorative wrought-iron work. The layout and holdings of the building are described. There is coverage of the opening ceremony speeches by Mrs Carnegie, Sir John Ross, Mr Macbeth (representing Mr Norval, chairman of the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust), Dr Keppel (President, Carnegie Corporation of New York), Lord Elgin, and Sir Dugald Clerk representing the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland. There is a photo from the 1928 Children’s Gala in Pittencrieff Glen of Mrs Carnegie, her daughter Mrs Roswell Miller, her son-in-law, and her four grandchildren.
