The early house of Blackwood

1900
Books, Manuscripts
Biography of the early history of the publishing house of Blackwood and the Blackwood family. Documents from the 14th century suggest the name Blackwood originated in Fife or Kinrosshire. In the 16th century there is a connection to Dunfermline one of whom, Adam Blackwood, had a connection to Mary Queen of Scots. The biography traces the many famous Blackwoods through the centuries and various connections to Fife, until in the 19th century we come to William Blackwood founder of the publishing house William Blackwood & Sons.
