John Cairns was born in Stockbridge, Berwickshire, August 23rd, 1818. In 1845 he was ordained to the Minstry in Berwick-on-Tweed. His career progressed through the years during which time he became Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics. On the death of Dr. Harper he was appointed by the Synod Principal of the College. He died on 12th March 1892. This booklet is the tribute given to him by the Rev. John W.Dunbar, M.A., at his funeral. It is a eulogy in celebration of his life and career and the esteem in which he was held by the United Presbyterian Church.
