This is a named index of all the people who went into the Abbothall Poor house between 1888 and 1947. Each individual entry gives the name, occupation, age, marital status, religion sate of health, who they were admitted on the order of, name and address of relative, date of admission and discharge, death date and remarks relating to their discharge. The Kirkcaldy Combination Poor house was formed in around 1848 and in 1849 a building was erected to the north of Kinghorn. The poor house combined the four parishes of Abbotshall, Kinghorn, Kirkcaldy and Burntisland. In 1930 it became known as the Abden Home Poor Law Institution, but locally it is known as the Abbotshall Poor House.
