ZYW'S album of drawings illustrates the history of the Polish armed forces in Britain during the period beginning in the summer of 1940 and leading up to the present day. A soldier himself, he has drawn his comrades in arms - soldiers, airmen and sailors. In his excellent sketches he has documented their life.We see in them Polish soldiers in camps in beautiful and hospitable Scotland, waiting to defend the coast against a German invasion which never materialized; we see them at rest and we see them at work, in workshops and on the land. We witness the Army's transformation into an armoured corps, into a powerful instrument of the approaching thrust on the oppressed continent of Europe. We find in this album a rich collection of drawings of the life of Polish Air Force squadrons; of men fighting, day in, day out, for the common cause; of their work, their equipment, their airfields.
