Collection of press cuttings of a series of 6 articles on some of Dunfermline's most interesting characters from the past. They include short pieces on people such as Sergeant Cockburn who whilst stationed in Dunfermline in the 19th century was inspired by the area to compose a lengthy poem, Robert Gilfillan who showed potential poetic talent, the charismatic religious orator Ralph Erskine, the philanthropic pursuits of Admiral Sir Andrew Mitchell, , former provost of Dunfermline's Adam Lows remarkable affinity for Bone setting and the eccentric scholar Andrew Donaldson. All of the articles are accompanied by sketches by the writer Colin Dymock.
