The book of the Morgans : A Scottish family around the world

Morgan, Richard2023
Books, Manuscripts
This detailed family history focuses on the descendants of one George Morgan (c. 1754-c.1829). In particular, the male line and one generation beyond for the female line is presented, with the author stating that the female line was harder to trace. The book is divided into six parts, with Parts I and II being about George Morgan specifically. On the whole, the author has not explored the families into which George's children married, one of the exceptions being the King family. Some chapters have annexes with material which the author feels will be of interest to only his immediate family rather than the general reader. The author states that he has tried to avoid any conjecture in his research and has used certain primary sources such as family letters and diaries which are extant. The main themes of the book according to the author, and cited in his preface, are the Scottish diaspora, business interests and class. The print run of this book has been limited to 70 copies.
