John Loudon of 3 Cabbagehall Place Leslie was an award winning model engineer. He lied about his age so he could start his apprenticeship at 16 years old. He made his first engine in 1932. He was a toolmaker with Emihus Microcomponents in Glenrothes. In his spare time he was a model engineer. He made working model steam engines.

He won an award in 1972 for his seven cylinder rotary 80 horsepower Gnome Monosoupage rotary aero engine. It was a model of an engine he'd seen as a 5 year old boy at Cupar where a ilot was offering flights in an Avro 504 aeroplane.

In his garden shed in Leslie Mr Loudon also made hip pins for an orthopaedic surgeon at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

John McIntosh was born in Leslie in 1922. He enlisted in April 1941 and sailed to Canada on troopship SS. Stratheden. In February 1943 he joined 207 Squadron RAF. He was a pilot flying first Lancasters then in 1945 Mosquitos. In May 1943 he was part of a Wings Over Britain fundraising campaign in Glasgow. In June 1943 he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross DFC for a sortie to Friedichshafen Ballon Base in southern Germany which included an engine failure and a journey home to base  via Algeria and Gibraltar.

In August 1943 he was awarded a Bar to his D.F.C for getting back to England from a mission to Peenemunde V2 Rocket base despite his plane catching fire.

.6 One page of notes about having to divert to a base on the west coast because of fog and then next flight to his home base taking the chance to fly over Leslie and roll the wings of his Lancaster so the local Home Guard could teel his girlfriend they had seen his plane; John's flying training in Alabama, USA; and after the war he married Sadie, they had two children and John worked as manager of the Tayside Floorcloth factory in Newburgh, Hr=e as a scout master, an elder at Christ's Kirk on The Green in Leslie and was organist at Cults parish church.

Photocopies of documents relating to Tommy's wartime service in the Royal Engineers No 22 Bomb Disposal company in London during the blitz. After the war he worked at the Smith Anderson paper mill. The information was provided by Mr Hall's daughter Joyce Graham.
